How Are Energy Performance Certificates Used?

All domestic EPCs are required to be lodged in a central database with a unique reference number. Access to this database is restricted so that only those who have this reference number will be able to view the EPC. The EPC for is not made publicly available to any and all who wish to view it and is restricted to the seller and potential buyers. The seller of the property will receive a copy of their EPC and potential buyers will be given access to the EPC through the home information pack and this database.
